The AWARE Method™

Leadership Coaching That Turns Awareness Into Retention

The AWARE Method™ is Theresa's leadership coaching framework for building the awareness, curiosity, and habits that create highly engaged teams, and turn leaders into people others want to follow.

HR can't carry retention alone.

Every program, survey, and policy HR builds gets outweighed by one thing: the daily relationship between an employee and their direct leader. That means retention is not a program you run. It is a way of leading you develop. The AWARE Method™ gives leaders a repeatable path to develop it.

The Five Steps of the AWARE Method™

A: Assess Yourself Leadership starts with self-awareness. Leaders examine their communication patterns, emotional intelligence, and personal blind spots. Key question: What am I not seeing about myself?

W: Watch for the Signals Leaders learn to recognize the early indicators of disengagement: the four signals of Energy, Voice, Meaning, and Ownership. Key question: What has changed that I haven't noticed?

A: Ask with Curiosity Replace assumptions with conversations. One-on-ones, active listening, stay interviews, and the psychological safety that makes honesty possible. Key question: What conversation am I avoiding?

R: Respond with Intention Awareness only matters when it is followed by action. Recognition, feedback, accountability, delegation, and follow-through. Key question: How can I intentionally help this person succeed?

E: Elevate Others Create an environment where people feel seen, valued, challenged, and empowered. Talent development, career conversations, trust, and leadership legacy. Key question: Who is becoming a better leader because of my leadership?

From Managing Performance to Developing People

Assess Yourself → Watch for the Signals → Ask with Curiosity → Respond with Intention → Elevate Others

As awareness grows, so do trust, engagement, and retention. Leaders stop reacting to resignations and start building teams nobody wants to leave.

Attention creates connection.

Connection creates trust.

Trust creates retention.

"Leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about developing the awareness to ask better questions, notice what others miss, and create an environment where people can thrive. Attention is retention because awareness changes everything."
